North Wales Psychological Services
Frequently Asked Questions
Beginning therapy is a brave step, and it is natural to have questions. Here you will find clarity on how we work together, what to expect, and practical details to make your journey as comfortable as possible. If anything is still unclear, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Can I talk to Laura before booking an appointment or joining a group?
Yes, you can. Laura offers a free 15 minute discovery call option for people enquiring about therapy. These calls can be a good opportunity to ask questions about therapy and see whether Laura is the right fit for you. You can arrange a discovery call either through the contact form, by emailing laura@northwalespsychologicalservices.com or by calling or WhatsApp on 07453 539442
If you are interested in joining a group, please send us a message. Laura will arrange to meet with you individually to discuss the group.
How do I book an appointment?

Online or in-person therapy?
I offer the flexibility of both. Online sessions allow you to access support from the comfort of your own home, while in-person sessions are available in Llandudno for those who prefer face-to-face. I predominately offer face-to-face sessions on Mondays.
What should I expect in my first therapy appointment?
We know coming to your first therapy session can be daunting and Laura will do everything she can to put you at ease. Laura suggests that the first few sessions are used as an opportunity to get to know each other and to think about what has brought you to therapy and what you might want to get out of seeing a psychologist. Laura will ask you questions about your experiences, but importantly it is always up to you how much you want to share and there is no pressure or expectation that you talk about things you don't feel ready to. After the first few sessions we will have a review to clarify what we are focussing on and agree a plan going forward.
Will you tell anyone I am seeing a psychologist?
No, we don't routinely inform anyone you are attending therapy or a group. Everything we discuss within sessions is confidential; the only exception to this is if we are concerned about your safety or the safety on someone else. More details about this can be found in our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
What are your fees?
Individual therapy appointments are charged at £120 and payment is required via bank transfer 48 hours before appointments.
Groups, training and consultation rates vary and will be discussed during the booking process.
Do you accept insurance?
No, North Wales Psychological Services is currently unable to accept insurance.
How long should I plan for a therapy session to be?
Therapy appointments are normally 50 minutes.
Cancellations
Life happens, and sometimes you may need to reschedule. I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. This allows me to offer the time to others who may need it. Cancellations with less that 48hrs notice will be charged at the full rate. Further details are provided in our Terms and Conditions. You can cancel a session by either email or phone.
